- 2. Gao Gang and Rao Shushi (regional boss of Shanghai) plotted to replace Shaoqi

- 4. Mao allowed things to continue (possibly encouraging Gang)
- 5. Mao denounced Gang in 1953 at a Politburo meeting (December 24th)
- 6. Gao Gang committed suicide in 1954. Rao Shushi was imprisoned where he died 20 years later
