- Six principles of Marriage

Marriage
is a vocation – a calling from God
- This is why the Catholic church does not allow re-marriage. God called you to marriage and you made your promises in his presence, therefore your marriage is still valid and you should do everything to keep it going.
- Marriage is life long/ permanent - just as God’s love has no end. This is based on the teaching of Jesus and St Paul “what God has joined together –let no man separate”
- Marriage is a Sacrament – a sign of the love of God for all to see. It is witnessed by friends and family – a sign of God’s love at work in the world

- Marriage faithful and exclusive – just as God is faithful and keeps his promises – couples are called to do the same – “Thou shalt not commit adultery
- Marriage involves
responsible parenthood – they should create a
loving and stable environment for their children to grow up in – and teach them
to know and love God.
- This is something that has to be considered when adopting. The parents have to be able to offer a loving christian enviroment.
- There are also groups that will help you do this, as well as the church- as it is a massive responsibility.

- Marriage
life giving. In the love of God the
couple should be open to a new life in God and the bringing up of a Christian
family.
- This is why the Church disagrees with abortion, contraception and IVF- as they all risk killing a human life and in your marriage ceremony you promised to be open to producing new life- thus if you kill the life you are going against God( It is also a commandment that you shall not kill
