- Common sense

- Weaknesses
- Love is too subjective
- Different for everyone, hence can be difficult to apply in situations where you will be personally affected (bias) - It just allows us to pick what we want to do and label it as love's choice
- Too much freedom
- "If all men were saints then situation ethics would be the perfect ethic... but man has not yet come of age - Barclay on the issue that not everyone will use the moral freedom to do good
- Too ambiguous
- it doesn't tell us what we really ought to do when make a moral decision, - doesn't help people when they need guidance
- 'Drowning' in moral freedom
- following structured rules provides comfort in times of confusion
- Based on extreem examples
- ISn't actually that effective in everyday situations - we're not faced with a hiroshima bomb everyday
- Love is too subjective
