- Abortion- Is the removal of a foetus from a womb to end a pregnancy. It is only allowed if two doctors agree with it and they are only allowed up until 24 weeks into the pregnancy
- Sanctity of life- this is the idea that all life is precious. Christians and Muslims' believe that it was a gift from god so nobody should take it
- Quality of life- this refers to the kind of life the baby will have
- Reasons why the child's life will be poor:
- Baby may be unloved and unwanted therefore it might lead a difficult life to grow up with
- Baby is born with a severe disability and may live a life full of pain
- Family may not be able to afford a child, poverty can cause it to have a poor quality of life
- Reasons why the child's life will be poor:
- Adoption- a legal process where a child is taken in by a family and it is brought up as one of their own
- Fostering- a child is temporarily taken cared for by a family until its' mother is able to care for it.

- Great risk the baby might be born with a severe disability
- There is a risk to the mental/physical health of the mother's other child
- Pro-life
- many religious people see life at conception and having an abortion is murder
- Disabled people still have a right to choose. Who says they can't have a worthwhile life?
- Unwanted adoption can be adopted
- Every foetus has the potential to be a human being
- Abortion is used as contraception, people use it selfishly to avoid their responsibilites
- Children- born or unborn- still have human rights and they are to be protected, according to the United Nations
- Pro-choice
- a woman has the right to choose its' her body
- the foetus is a collection of cells in a body until it can survive outside of it
- Mother's rights outweigh the foetus's
- If abortion became illegal people would use dangerous backstreet ones
- It's cruel to bring a severely ill baby into the world
- There are lots of unwanted children- we don't need more
- Adoption is very hard on a mother
- In some circumstances abortion is the best option

- Abortion seems to go against the teaching of 'COMPASSION AND NOT HARMING LIVING THINGS'.
- However abortion might be the most compassionate thing to do.
- Being born is a great opportunity to reach Nibbana and abortion wastes this rare opportunity
