        • To marry, is a gift from Allah
      • Adultery
        • It's disapproved of and is unacceptable.
          • One of the vows is to promise that you will be faithful to your partner.
            • It can harm society, it disturbs the peace and unity of brotherhood (ummah)
              • The Surah 17:32 quotes that adultery is shameful as it opens a door to other evils.
      • Families
        • Grandparents,uncles and aunts are included as a family
          • Celebrating festivals like Eid al Fitr should be celebrated as a family
            • Family honor is important
              • Kids are meant to care for parents and older family members
                • Keeping the halal diet in important in an Islamic household
                  • Although having different responsibilities, mothers and fathers have an equal role in family life
      • Cohabitation
        • Sex should happen after marriage
          • Cohabitation is wrong
            • Some Muslims may cohabitate, but only as a practice
              • Worship and authority
                • Qur'an 4:1 - Allah created everyone from one soul
                  • Qur'an 40:40 - A true believer can be male or female
                    • Qur'an 2:228 - Men should have power over women in divorce
                      • Normally, men become imams, who lead prayer for men and women
                        • Men and female are separated when praying
                          • Some Suunis usually allow women to lead prayers
                            • Although men's and women's roles are different, they're both equal
      • Divorce and remarriage
        • Divorce is seen only as a last resort. Before this every attempt to bring back a couple should be tested - Qur'an 4:35
          • Three months of trying to reconcile should be attempted (Iddah)
            • Before the divorce happens, the wife must first get last part of her dowry and she should be treated well - Qur'an 2:229
              • Remarriage is allowed
                • It isn't wrong to separate if the husband and wife both agree - Qur'an 4:128 - 130
      • Sex and contraception
        • Sex should happen in the marriage
          • Sex is like worship
            • It's like meeting one's needs
              • Contraception is accepted as long as both partners agree
                • Contraceptives that could harm ones body are not acceptable
      • Homosexuality
        • Sex should only happen between husband and wife
          • Homosexuality isn't allowed - Qur'an 7:80 - 81
    • Christianity
      • Families
        • Mothers and fathers are expected to be equal, although they both have different responsibilities
          • Christmas and Easter should be celebrated as a family.
            • Family is an important place to worship together.
              • Baptisms and confirmations are marked as special times in families
          • Worship and authority
            • All of Jesus' disciples were men
              • Anglicans now allow women to be bishops
            • Jesus had women followers
            • 1 Timothy 2:11-12 - Women shouldn't have power over men
            • Galatians 3-27-29 - Gender isn't a priority as long as you have faith in Jesus
            • Women's and men's roles may be different, but are both equal
      • Marriage
        • It's sacred in some traditions.
          • For Catholics, the ceremony is held in churches or chapels performed by a vicar/minister
            • Rings present eternal love

        • Sex normally should only happen in committed relationships
          • Sex is holy and sacred
            • Sexual relationships are special and unique and a commitment between a husband and wife
              • Casual sex is like you're devaluing people
                • Adultery is harmful to marriage
                  • Contraception is okay as long as both partners agree
                    • Catholics
                      • Artificial contraception, e,g, the pill, aren't allowed - it's against St Thomas Aquinas' Natural Law
                      • Natural contraception are allowed, e.g. natural family planning
                      • Priests are expected to be celibate
      • Homosexuality
        • Isn't accepted on Biblical grounds, seen as 'a disgusting thing' - Leviticus 20-13
          • Anglicans don't agree to marry a homosexual couple, but agree to a church blessing
            • Quakers have welcomed homosexual marriages
              • The United Reformed Church have allowed individual churches to perform homosexual marriages if they want to
                • Catholics oppose homosexual marriages, as they believe love is between a man and a woman
  • In the 10 Commandments, kids are to respect and honor their parents. For example, obeying them and caring for them as they get old
