      • The devil challenges God to put Job's fate to the test
      • God destroys Job's business, kills his children and gives Job a painful illness
      • Job remains faithful throughout his pain and believes it is the Lord's right to take away what Job had.

      • Beyond human control

      • Suffering is a result of free will

      • Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Ate from the tree of knowledge.
      • Due to Adam and Eve's actions, human would no longer live eternally but become old and die
      • Blamed each other for their sins. Upset God and sent them away from the Garden of Eden
    • Karma
      • Law of cause and effect
      • People "reap what they sow"
      • Suffering may result in actions from past life.
