  • Protein
    • Fish, Eggs, Poultry, Cheese, Milk, Meat, Vegetables (including pulses), Cereal Products (including bread, breakfast cereals, rice and pasta.)
    • 17 % of the body is made up of protein.
      • Made up of  carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen
        • Most contain sulphur and some phosphorus.
        • These elements are arranged into units called AMINO ACIDS, which form the building blocks of protein.
          • They are joined together in chains by peptide links and these chains form the protein.
    • Protein is a essential constituent of all cells and must be included in the diet to ENABLE GROWTH and REPAIR OF THE BODY.
