    • All 4 main access roads & railways were blocked making it difficult for emergency services to reach people
    • 13 deaths
    • Cost £3.2 billion
    • 200 families were still living in caravans after a year
    • RAF rescue helicopters were used in rescue efforts
    • The army supplied food to towns cut off by flood water
    • £800 million spent on flood defences
    • Environment agency now holds flood prevention classes in the area
    • Glos has set up a free flood warning scheme and 73,000 people have signed up
