- FATIGUE
- Glycogen depletion
- glycogen stores are limited - enough for 90mins
- when depleted athletes 'hit the wall' as body metabolises fat
- Dehydration
- water is lost through sweating - if not replaced dehydration occurs
- effects blood flow to working muscles
- result in loss of electrolytes which help muscular contractions
- blood viscosity increases and blood pressure reduces
- Reduced rate of ATP resynthesis
- when stores of ATP and PC are depleted there is insufficient ATP to sustain muscular contractions
- Thermoregulation
- Lactic acid build up
- Glycogen depletion
