        • combines with either Na ions or K ions
          • produces a salt called LACTATE
            • causes fatigue in the muscles by:
              • slowing down enzyme activity
                • which in turn slows down the break down of glycogen
                  • hence less energy can be produces
                    • causing fatigue ????
        • releases hydrogen ions
          • increase the acidity levels
