  • Conformity
    • NSI - You participate because you want to be liked in a group, we don't want to be rejected, emotional process.
    • Evaluation - STRENGTH, applications in workplaces, 'whistle-blowers' risk their jobs to highlight wrong-doings, they resist NSI and ISI, we can counteract conformity. STRENGTH, Asch gave evidence of NSI, pps went along with answers because the rest did, people said they felt self-conscious, written answers made conformity decrease, NSI proven. WEAKNESS, NSI and ISI work together, less likely to conform if someone else also says no, this reduces NSI (support) and ISI (knowledge), both operate simultaneously.
    • ISI - You participate because you think others have better information, cognitive process, in new situations.
