- The Bible teaches that consumption of alcohol impairs judgement, inflames passions and invites violence
- These Christians believe that taking tobacco or alcohol is abusing God's temple just as much as taking drugs
- Christians should set an example of a good and healthy lifestyle by abstaining from them
- There passages in the Bible warning against drunkenness which they consider suffectient reason for abstinence

- "Lot's drunkness resulted in an incestous relationship with his two daughters" Genesis 19:30

- The 1st miracle that Jesus performed was at the wedding feast where he changed water into wine therefore he must have approved drinking alcohol
- Most Churches use alcoholic wine in their communion services so Christians must be able to drink wine in moderation
- St Paul said Christians could drink in moderation
- "Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because your stomach
- Jesus used wine and bread at his Last Supper and told his disciples to continue this tradition
- Moderation is the teaching in the Catechism
