30,000 africans marched in an orderly demonstration deomg langa to Cape town and was led by Kgosana. The police promised that the minister of justice would meet a PAC delegation if the crowd dispersed, but this never happened and Kogswana got bagged

It strengthened police powers as police could detain people without fear of restriction by the courts. They used the Public Safety act which required no warrants.

Mandela was arrested at home in Orlando (who said in his autobigoraphy 'we were now, all of us, outlaws' ) and Luthuli (president of the ANC) was assaulted after his arrest,
