Waves Keyterms

?
Displacement
Is a vibrating particles distance and direction from its equilibrium position.
1 of 6
Amplitude
The maximum dispplacement. In transverse waves this is the eight of a peak or crest.
2 of 6
Wavelength
The minimum distance between two particles with the same displacement and velocity at the same time. Measured as the distance between two crests.
3 of 6
Cycle
One is from a maximum displacement to the next maximum displacement (from one peak to the next).
4 of 6
Period
The time for one complete wave to pass a point. (How long a particle takes to get back to where it started).
5 of 6
Frequency
Number of cycles of vibrating particles per second. Or the numberof times a wave passes through a point per second.
