What are codes of practice?
They are a set of guidelines that explains the way professionals must behave.

Some examples are health and safety act, confidentiality, safeguarding, data protection act and professional conduct.

Why are they important?
They inform professionals of their rights and responsibilities,
Outline the behaviours and attitudes that service users can expect from the professionals
Help to achieve high-quality, safe and compassionate care and support and,
Enable safety for the serv

Who follows the codes of practice?
The professionals follows them. This tends to range from nurses, midwives, doctors to specialist doctors.

Why must they be met?
They protect people who use the services from harm and allows the service users to understand the standards of care they can expect from the service users.
