What is the ripple effect?
something that takes place might not just effect you it "ripple" so it also effects beyond you into the community and wider society

different cultures have different beliefs for what is right or wrong

What is meant by decriminalisation?
is the lessening of criminal penalties in relation too certain acts, so it is illegal but people do not prosecute

What is legalisation?
process of removing all legal prohibitations against it

Why may the police not record a crime?
it is not a priority just a trivial matter they cant be bothered to go out of their way
not enough evidence so feel there is nothing they can do
too busy forgetful they have priority for other things

What is the dark figure of crime?
illustrates the number of committed crimes that are never reported or are never discovered

What is the broken windows theory?
idea that if you see a broken window in a wealthy area and it would be fixed straight away whereas in an area of poverty no one would care as other crimes are more prevalent, this crime will then become the norm leading to more serious crimes
