    • definition: as the years have gone on the procedures for reporting crimes have advanced and adapted for the bette
    • example: 1970s- visit stations or call 999 Now- anonymous tip offs and reporting, victim support groups, crime surveys, tv programmes like most wanted
    • positive consequence: easier and more efficient system in reporting crimes which will encourage people to come forward more meaning police will have an accurate depiction of the problems going on out there
    • stats: estimated two million reported and recorded  during the 1970s and 5.8 million crimes in England and Wales in 2021
