Triple Point
One specific temperature and pressure at which all 3 phases of substance exist in thermodynamic equilibrium
1 of 9
Thermal equilibrium
No net flow of thermal energy between objects (are the same temperature)
2 of 9
Absolute Temperature
Scale for measuring temperature based on absolute zero and the triple point of pure water (in kelvin K)
3 of 9
Absolute zero
The lowest possible temperature, the temperature at which substances have minimum internal energy.
4 of 9
Brownian Motion
Random, hapzard motion of smoke particles due to same motion of air particles.
5 of 9
Internal Energy
The sum of the randomly distributed kinetic and potential energies of atoms, ions or mlecules within a substance.
6 of 9
Specific Heat Capacity
The energy required per unit mass to change the temperature by 1K
7 of 9
Specific Latent Heat of Fusion
The energy required to change unit mass from solid to liquid at constant temperature.
8 of 9
Specific Latent Heat of Vaporisation
The energy required to chane unit mass of a substance from liquid to gas (at constant temperature).
