Act of Attainder
Declares landowner guilty of rebelling against monarch, attainded noble loses title, lands and heirs disinherited. Used against Yorkists after Battle of Bosworth.

Tonnage and poundage
Right to raise revenue for the whole reign from imports and exports.

Magnate
Member of higher ranks of nobility.

Prerogative rights
Powers which monarch could exercise without consent of parliament.

Privy Chamber
Comprising of close servants of monarch, direct access to monarch, able to influence more.

Extraordinary revenue
Money raised by additional sources as one off payments, made up of parliamentary grants, loans, clerical taxes, bonds and recognisances.

Belief amongst Protestants that CofE needed to be purged of any 'superstitious' (ie Catholic) practices.
