What are some of the signs + symptoms of UTI's?
- Presentation of symptoms depends on the age of the child
- Non-specific in infants and fever not always present
- Babies = unwell, poor feeding, poor colour/ perfusion, lethargy/ irritability, and potentially sepsis
- Classic symptoms = dysuria (pain on

How do you assess a CYP with UTI?
- History taking e.g. how long symptoms have gone on for and signs and symptoms experienced etc.
- Assess urinary pattern e.g. frequency, urgency, or hesitancy
- Assess characteristics of a patient's urine such as colour, concentration, odour, volume, and

How do you diagnose a CYP with UTI?
- Pain related to infection + clinical suspicion
- Urinalysis (urine cultures). To be done via 'clean catch' method to prevent contamination of sample collected
- STI test (depending on age of child) e.g. are they sexually active
- CT-scan if nothing else

How do you plan, manage, and implement care for a CYP with UTI?
- Dependent on age + severity of illness
- Antibiotics (oral or I.V. depending on age of child + severity of illness). Analgesia if required
- Plan for imaging to be done depending on presentation + age of child
