What was the Festival of Reason?
An element of 'de-Christianisation'- organised by Hebert and the Indulgents- encouraged the French to remove all symbols of religion from their churches- the Paris Commune ordered all Parisian churches be shut. Priests were rounded up and attacked.

Robespierre was a strong critic- he saw the religious radicalism as mob rule.
