Age Concern
The UK's largest organisation working on behalf of older people.

Showing prejudice or discrimination because of someone's age.

The RRA was strengthened by stressing the need to promote harmony and tolerance.

Being sexually attracted to a person of the opposite gender.

Not knowing. Someone is ignorant if they act or make decisions without knowing.

Humans being made 'in the image of God'. Christians believe that humans have respect for each other because all are made in God's image.

Fear of Islam, leading to prejudice and discrimination against Muslims.

The idea that to be fair, everyone deserves the same rights and the same treatment.

Looks and lifestyle prejudice
Showing prejudice because of someone's appearance or way of living.

Christian minister who campaigned for civil rights for black people in the USA.

Mental disability
Examples are anxiety, depression and schizophrenia.

Physical disability
Examples are amputation, arthritis and muscular dystrophy.

Positive discrimination
A minority group may be treated more favourably, all other things being equal.

A law making it illegal to discriminate against someone because of race, nationality, ethnic or national background in the areas of jobs, education, housing and the provision of services.
