What are the causes of air pollution?
NO2 and SO2 particulates (NO2 causing damage to the respiratory system and SO2 becoming acid rain), the burning of stubble, driving motor vehicles, factories and coal burning stations. 1/3 of electricity is produced by generators fuelled by petrol.

Why are emission levels sill high in rural areas?

What are the impacts on incidence of cancer?
PM 2.5 is particulate matter with a diameter fewer than 2.5 micrometers. Risk of lung cancer has therefore reached 70% in Delhi. Lung function has decreased to 40% and is 1.7 times more common. Cancer has become the largest avoidable killer.
