Number of people who die for every 1000 people in one year

The number of people added to, or lost from, the population for every 1000 people in one year. Found by subtracting the Death Rate from the Birth Rate.

India Anti Natalist Policy
First country to itroduce a policy- the Government offered contraceptive advice and sterilisation. In the 1970s, forced sterlilisation for men was put in place. This policy has now ended with the Governemtn encouraging a '2 child' Policy.

Sweden Pro Natalist Policy
They have a low fertility rate so to improve it they offered; 13 months paid (80%) leave; Extra payments if there are less than 30 months between children; get paid £900 per child per year; 120 paid days leave to care for for sick children. Now 1.7.

UK Immigration Policy
'No intervention' policy in regards to fertility rates and migration until 2010. Now they are trying to reduce immigration from non EU countries.
