(P1) physics core convection

HideShow resource information
What is convection?
Convection is when the particles with the most energy move from the hotter place to the cooler place and take their heat energy with them.
1 of 5
What happens when the water is hot?
It becomes less dense and rises
2 of 5
What happens when the water is cold?
It becomes more dense and sinks
3 of 5
How do the water particles go from being hot to cold?
They collide and transfer heat.
4 of 5
Does the same things occur when convection happens in air?
Yes
