how did hitler enforce a police state?

the ** and the gestapo intimidated, arrested and even killed any possible opponents. enemies e.g liberals and communists were sent to concentration camps without a trial.

controlled the judges (the had to belong to the national socialist leauge and had to favour the nazi party in any descion. controlled the law courts: notrial by jury (just judges). set up a people's court to hear all treason cases in secret

how were concentration camps used before 1939?

first was built in Dachau in 1933. built in isolated areas so no one could see what was going on. inmates were political prisoners and undesirables (prostitues, homosexuals, minority groups such as jews)
