Newspapers such as 'Sporting Life' were completely dedicated to sport and covered all sporting events and results. Also, newspapers devote specific pages to sport and tend to concentrate on high-profile sports (such as football, cricket, rugby etc..)

Magazines
The 'Topical Times' was a weekly magazine, which appeared between 1919 and 1940 and contained articles on football, boxing and horse racing. Also, England's World Cup victory in 1966 led to a surge of football magazines.

Radio
Radio played an important role in developing the popularity of sport from the 1930s onwards. In 1948 BBC began broadcasting 'Sports Report' at 5.00p.m. on a Saturday, providing football results and reports of top matches.

In the 1960s the BBC and ITV began broadcasting Saturday afternoon sports programmes. The 1966 World Cup Final when England beat West Germany 4-2 attracted 32.6 million viewers

Grandstand ran from 1958 to 2007 and covered all sporting events: commentators like David Coleman became household names.

In 1964 the BBC launched the successful 'Match of the Day' programme, which commented on popular matches and performances of teams and players.
