    • What: The Roaring twenties was nickname for the period of time in America wherby many people had lots of free time and money
    • It led to the popularity of many new fields of Leisure and Entertainment including: Sports, Jazz, Cinema
      • Sports - This was the golden age for Sports as for the first sports stars had celebrity status, eg; Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey, Bobby Jones...
      • The Jazz Age - In 1920s Jazz became vey popular ,Young Old Black White all enjoyed it. Main music of African Americans. Fast tempo lively music
      • Cinema -  Movie production boomed in 1920s, The STAR SYSTEM was the way media promoted starring actors, Intro of talkies(talking films) grew industry more, though ruining some careers, 1930 - 100Million people a week attended the movies
        • Hayes Code - Older Generation weren't fond of the change as could influence younger watchers and law put in place to restrict nudity, arson, murder etc, a kiss was limited to 3 seconds.
    • Women.
      • Pre-war Women were very restricted and controlled , couldn't vote or play sports or wear makeup
        • Volta - Women took male roles during war and felt a sense of independence as they earned their own money, divorce rate doubled and also this contributed to their right to vote
      • Flappers: A flapper was a term to describe the new independent and fashionable lady, they would go to night clubs with men smoke and wear revealing clothes.
        • Minor Change - for majority of women life was the same , flappers were normally middle class/ upper class in the Northern states, others were busy raising families. Though could vote , women still had no political standing and less than men
