What is the equation for a straight line?
y=mx+c
1 of 7
What does m stand for in the equation?
The gradient
2 of 7
What does c stand for in the equation?
The Y-intercept
3 of 7
How do you work out the gradient?
Change in y/change in x
4 of 7
How do you find the equation of a line?
1. Work out the gradient 2.Substitute the gradient into the equation 3.Substitute y and x depending on a point in the line that you know 4.Rearrange the equation to find c(the y-intercept) 5. Write out the equation with numbers for m and c
5 of 7
How do you find the midpoint for line segments?
add the x coordinates together of the two end points of the line/2 and add the y coordinates together of the two end points of the line/2. This gives you the x and y coordinates for the midpoint
6 of 7
How do you find the length of line segments?
Find the change in x at the two end points of the line and the change in y at the two end points of the line. Then just use pythagoras theorem to find the line length.
