Medium Density Fireboard (MDF)
made from wood waste. Wood chips get heated and pressured make pulp. Pulp then mixed with synthetic resin adhesive to bond fibres. Cooled trimmed and sanded.

Carbon fibres are twisted together to make yarn. Woven into fabric. Tennis rackets, wheels, bicycle frames.

broad-leaved tree (oak, mahogany, elm &ash) Tough&strong due to close grain. Cheap as easy to shape.

cone-bearing trees. Fast growth . Easy to work with, lightweight. Suitable for modelling applications.

magnetic. easily formed. Food cans and aerosol cans. Tin prevents corrosion

nonmagnetic. strong but lightweight. does not rust. Easily moulded
