Plywood
PROPERTIES - Thin layers of wood glued at 90 degrees to each other and compressed, no grain weakness so strong in all directions, always has odd number of layers. USES - Structural work, desktops, indoor furniture, floorboards.

Marine plywood
PROPERTIES - Similar construction to plywood but is gap and void free, uses WBP glue to provide resistance to moisture, can be fungus resistant. USES - Boat dashboards, boat lockers and panelling.

Aeroply
PROPERTIES - Plywood made from high quality timber like birch, very thin sheets can be bent around support frame, lightweight. USES - Gliders, laminated furniture, laser-cut projects, jewellery items.

Flexible plywood (FlexiPly)
PROPERTIES - Odd number of layers with outer layers made from open grained timber to allow flexing, bent and glued around former to achieve solid shape. USES - Laminated furniture, curved panels.

Chipboard
PROPERTIES - Wood chips compressed with a resin such as urea formaldehyde. USES - Often veneered or covered with polymer laminate, kitchen worktops and units, shelving and flat-pack funiture.

MDF
PROPERTIES - Compressed wood fibres, although sometimes urea formaldehyde is added as additional resin, has two smooth faces, available in standard grade or veneered with layer of timber. USES - Model or mould making, furniture items.
