Arrested on suspicion of murder of Joanna Yates. Found innocent. The Sun called him 'weird', 'creepy' and 'obsessed by death', he sued and got an apology and compensation.

What was the case of the phone hacking scandal?
Millie Dower's phone got hacked by News of The World. Her voicemail was hacked and some texts were deleted for new messages. This led to false hope for Millie's parents due to the active status on her phone.

A journalist slipped a letter into her daughters school bag addressed to JK herself. She was mortified and angry and felt a huge sense of invasion of privacy.

What is the Barker and Petley Theory?
There is an obsession with trying to prove that media are responsible for social issues. Researchers who want to find this link carry on without any evidence.

What is the Byron Report? (2008)
No evidence of 'desensitisation' from playing video games; idea of games as addictive is based on prejudiced. Media may have an influence on negative behavior in children but should not be singled out as the main cause.
