Health and safety at work act 1974
employer must provide: safe environment, safe equipment and safe access systems (fire exits, hazzard controls)

COSHH (control of substances hazzardous to health)
COSHH is safety when using chemical substances. Chemicals must be labled, a record must be kept of when a member of staff uses a chemical, how much and for what purpose. Also staff should be trained how to handle these chemicals properly.

RIDDOR (scale of severity of accidents)
1. death or major injury. 2. lost time injury. 3. reportable diseases. 4. accident but no injury (clean up cost)

train staff how to lift things properly (APL) asses plan lift

check equipment, maintain equipment, fix equipment

PPE ( personal protective equipment)
training staff how to use protectove equipment such as life jackets, high vis jackets etc and when they are need within the work place.

when working with computers and screens staff must be allowed to take regular breaks to avoid eye strain. they should have proper seats that keep the posture in a safe position. they should also be granted regular eye tests

childrens act
a DBS check must be done before any person can start working with children, this is to check criminal records for previous convictions no matter how big or small.

Data protection act
All data that is aquired must be kept confidential and must not be shared unless expressed permission is given by the owner of the data. Passwords must be used to keep data safe and only a select amount of staff are able to access this data.

Working tome regs
the maximum hours that can legally be worked in a week is 48hrs giving consent to work more than these hours makes it legal but a contract must be signed. when finishing a shift you must have a break of 11hours before starting the next shift
