Bevan convinced the BMA to drop their objections to the NHS by promising that he’d amend that act so that doctors won’t be afraid of become salaried civil servants.

In April 1951, the Labour government imposed charges for medical services in order to control NHS spending, which increased to £500,000,000. This made Bevan angry and he resigned because everything he worked for has been destroyed.
