Increase in Divorce Rate

Just listing down the different reasons as to why the divorce rate has recently been increasing.

Changes in the law
Divorce is made easier to access by the law.

Secularisation
There is less religious influence in todays society so that means that individuals can take their own decisions freely.

Reduced stigama
The attitudes towards divorce are not negative anymore and it is seen as natural or even allowing freedom, so people do not feel bad after divorcing.

Reduced functions of the family
Government institutions have taken up most of the famil'es function: eg- school socialises children into the cultures and norms of society. Therefore, there is less stress on the pqarents to be in this relationship.

Increase in life expectancy
People know that they will live for a long time so if they are not happy with their marriage then they can break it and find another partner to live with for therest of their lives.
