Output Device.
Output devices are devices that receive data from the computer which tells them to do certain tasks. This can be such as headphones which receive data from the computer which allows it to play sound, this is through commands from the computer.

Types of Printers.
Laser, Inkjet, Multifunctional, Dot Matrix, Plotters, Professional, Photo.

Laser Printers.
These are able to print out a full page at a time like a photocopier. The image is formed on the page using a laser beam on a light sensitive drum. The page then passes over a heated fuser unit to melt the toner on to the page.

Inkjet Printers.
Inkjet are very popular in homes because they are cheaper to buy and have three different colours, they can accurately produce photographs. They can be transferred to items such as mugs and t-shirts.

Multi functional Printers.
These have a built-in scanner that can be used as a photocopier that is suitable for homes or small offices. They tend to have fax too. They use inkjet technology.

Dot Matrix Printers.
The main use for this technology is to print on multipart stationery. These are used in industrial situations where quantity is greater than quality. Although other methods of printing are now cheaper so they are no longer commonly used.

Plotters.
These have pens which move across the paper to draw a detailed and accurate image. They are mostly used to print large sized technical drawings.

Professional Printers.
This is sending documents to professionals shops, although they commonly use offset litho printing.

Photo Printers.
This is a printer which prints photos, they are specialist printers available that only print 6x4 inch photographs.They produce medium quality images but are expensive to run. Although most inkjets printers can print photographs.

Speakers.
External printers can be plugged into the computer and play sounds, this is produced by a sound card. Headphones are a type of speaker that can also be plugged in and produce sound, these are convent because the rest of the room cannot hear the sound
