Her mother was Anne Boleyn was executed
When Henry died in 1547, Elizabeth's half brother Edward VI was next in throne

Edward VI > Mary I and her bad relationship with Elizabeth
Edward died therefore Mary I became queen
Mary was determined to turn England to Catholicism
However Elizabeth was protestant. This caused some conflict as Mary didn't want Elizabeth to become queen and turn England back to protestants resulting in Mary

Elizabeth Crowned Queen of England in 1558
When Mary died of illness Elizabeth took the throne. Elizabeth's wanted to turn England back to prostatism.
Elizabeth therefor developed the Church of England, but also keeping some Catholicism

Elizabeth declined marriage as she thought her wealth fare of her country was her priority. However there were rumours that Elizabeth had a romance with Robert Dudley (Early of Leister)

The size of the privy council was reduced as well as Catholics who were involved were reduced
Elizabeth assembled experienced and trustworthy advisors known as William, Lord Beardly and Sir Francis.

England experienced a golden age of progress within England due to Elizabeth.
Trade expanded rapidly, bringing in wealth
1580s Francis Drake became the first English man to navigate the earth
England experienced their best ever harvests

Some of the challenges that faced Elizabeth 1st
In 1587 Elizabeth ordered her cousin, Mary Queen of Scott's to be executed. This was because Mary was a threat to the throne as she was a catholic.

Other examples were bad harvests and Puritans (extreme Catholics).

Philip II of Spain launched a invasion known as the Spanish Armada in 1588
This was to get rid of Elizabeth and restore Catholicism in England
Queen Elizabeth said her famous speech
The English may of lost many ships and men to the weather but the Spanish were severely defeated

Death of Elizabeth in 1603
As Elizabeth hadn't married anyone or had any children to look up to her, she was known as the last Tudor eyrie which meant dynasty came to an end. She was succeeded by James VI who was a protestant, therefore carrying on the theme of prostestism in Engla
