What are the two types of goals?
Performance and outcome

What is a performace goal?
Personal standards to be achieved. Performers compare themselves against what they have already done and set a goal. Don't compare themselves to anyone else. E.g. beating your PB

What is and outcome goal?
Goals that focus on the end result. E.g. whether you win or not

What does SMART mean?
Specific, Measurable, Accepted, Realistic, Time bound

What is Specific?
Target must be specific to demands of the sport and muscles used

What is Measurable?
Must be possible to measure whether the specific target set has been met

What is Accepted?
Target must be accepted by performer and others involved such as the coach

What is Realistic?
Target must be possible to complete

What is Time-bound?
Target covers a set period of time so performer knows whether they have achieved it
