26,000 killed. 70% of houses destroyed= 100,000 homeless. Tremor cut electricity, water supplies and phone services. 2 of cities hospitals collapsed - 1/2 of Bam's health workers were killed.

Acceptance. Bam decided to reconstruct using the same low-resilient mud bricks that were the reason the earthquake caused so much property damage - keeping with traditions. Bam settlement is on fault line but pop. wont move as they are settled above
