By 1929 the average farmer's wage was 40% of the national average and 500,000 farmers went bankrupt.

The top 5% of the population earned 1/3 of the income of America. 40% of Americans were below the poverty line.

Their wage was 1/3 of the national average. There were 2 million unemployed throughout the 1920's.
