Urbanisation
Urbanisation means an increase in the proportion of people living in urban areas compared to rural areas.

Subburbanisation
Suburbanization is a population shift from central urban areas into suburbs, resulting in formation of (sub)urban sprawl.

Re-urbanisation
Re-urbanszation refers to the movement of people back into an area that has been previously abandoned.

Counter-urbanisation
Counter-urbanisation is when large numbers of people move from urban areas into surrounding countryside or rural areas.

Commuting
The activity of travelling some distance to work or a place of study every day by car, bus, or train

Greenfield
Land that has never been used (e.g. green or new), where there was no need to demolish or rebuild any existing structures.

Brownfield
Brownfield land is an area of land previously used or built upon, as opposed to greenfield land, which has never been built upon.

The movement of people from the countryside or rural areas to the city or urban areas.
