Urbanisation means an increase in the proportion of people living in urban areas compared to rural areas.

Suburbanization is a population shift from central urban areas into suburbs, resulting in formation of (sub)urban sprawl.

Re-urbanszation refers to the movement of people back into an area that has been previously abandoned.

Brownfield land is an area of land previously used or built upon, as opposed to greenfield land, which has never been built upon.
