Water Aid - Language


The Water Aid advert makes use of various technical codes such as close up shots, slow motion and low angle tracking shot. All of which meet the criteria of traditional conventions of charity adverts. An example of this can be illustrated with the low angle tracking shot of Claudia's feet and the swinging bucket. This creates suspense for the audience. As well as a sense of realism as it feels as if we as the audience are also walkign with her, which makes us embrace her pov. Therefore, this encourages donations as we know the difficulty of walking long distances. Also, the use of close up shots allows personal identification of Claudia and to notice her facial expressions, in this case the character is seen as a lot stronger compared to characters in other charity adverts.
