Introduction MAKE YOUR JUDGEMENT=Discuss triumph-one side must defeat another. US only triumph if they liberate the north from communism. Other factors of success= Saving US reputation against China, long term success of ROK, containing communism. BUT Korea was not united, success of ROK is questionable, long term effects of the war for Korea and the global effects e.g. weakening of the UN.

Section One- America Triumphed= Upheld US reputation, had to maintain ROK as an example of a free institution. Sponsoring of ROK helped to prove capitalisms worth over communism. Contained Communism, only the north turned communist. War turned the cold war 'hot' but…
