• Mussolini was made prime minister in 1922 after threatening to take power by marching on Rome. He use his new authority to change the voting rules. This led to fascists rising to power in the 1924 election.
• From 1925, he began to establish a dictatorship in Italy.
• He banned opposing political parties, and he used his secret police against any opponents.
