Motor/executive programme - A generalised series of movements that is stored in long-term memory as a result of learning in practice and training sessions. When the performer makes the decision the relevent motor programme is retrieved from the long'term memory and is run off automatically.

Each motor programme is made up of a number of parts/elements known as sub-routines.

Open loop control

• Each activity is pre-leaner and has been developed through practice. An executive programme is stored in the long term memory.
