What is it?

It is a group of inherited conditions that affects the red blood cells. The most serious type is called "Sickle Cell Anaemia"



  • Faulty genes affect how red blood cells develop.
  • Experience painful episodes which can be very severe and can last up to a week/minutes/days
  • Increased risk of serious infection
  • Tired
  • Delayed growth 
  • Increased risk of leg ulcers/gallstones
