Republican ideology

They are considered Conservatives, both fiscally and socially. It is based on a limited role of the central government, giving states "free reign" so to speak, and a dominant foreign policy. They think that a big government gets in the way of things and believe that the strongest will survive- a meritocracy. They also believe that a big reliance on the private sector can help economic productivy. Currently, they are dominated by the right wing faction the Tea Party which influences their stances on many issues.
