Reaction time

Reaction time is the time between a stimulus at the start of the movement. Reaction time is one part of a larger unit called respone time.

Reaction time + movement time = response time

There are 4 stages to this:

1) Stimulus activates the appropriate sensory system eg by hearing the gun at the start of the race

2) Signal travels from sensory system to brain 

3) Brain processes signal/stimulus
