Day care - A temporary alternative for care of a child from the main care giver. It can be in many forms such as nurseries, childminders & crèches.

Cognitive development - The intellectual growth of a child, including thinking, reasoning & problem solving.

Broberg studied 146 Swedish children who were cared for at home & compared them to children in day care. He found that the children who had gone to day care performed better on verbal tasks.
