Plastic symbols used on packaging

PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate)

Often found on drink bottles such as water and beer, containers for peanut butter and mayo. Lightweight and easy to recycle.

HDPE (High density polyethylene)

Found on milk bottles, juice bottles, butter and yoghurt containers. More versatile than PETE, but is less transparent.
